“True patriots all; for be it understood, We left our country for our country's good”

Set in the brutal conditions of Australia’s Botany Bay in the late 1780s, “Our Country’s Good” follows a group of convicts who put on a play and in doing so discover themselves. With food running low and their leading lady about to be hanged, the play serves as the only hope amidst their desperate suffering.

Based on Thomas Keneally’s stirring novel “The Playmaker”, this modern classic presents the truly redemptive power of theatre, giving voice, purpose and affiliation to a group of social outcasts. With a plethora of interesting characters, offbeat relationships and poignant moments, who better to present the transforming power of art than our thriving youth group?
