Di and Viv and Rose
Di and Viv and Rose

Audition Date – Sunday 15th July at 1pm

Di and Viv and Rose is a contemporary Drama Comedy.

A warm and funny play about female friendship with three great roles for women with a playing age of 40’s.

Spanning 27 years the play starts at University in 1983 (pre mobile) when students lined up to use a payphone. Thus the three characters are introduced as they each call home.

Aged 18, three women join forces. Life is fun. Living is intense. Crackling with wisdom and wit, Di and Viv and Rose is a humorous and thoughtful exploration of friendship’s impact on life and life’s impact on friendship.

It charts the steady but sometimes chaotic progression of these three women’s lives and their ultimately enduring bonds, through to 2010.

The varied journeys of their lives take their toll on the characters, forcing them apart and stretching their relationships with each other to a near breaking point.

The play started life at the Hampstead Theatre  with Anna Maxwell-Martin, Gina McKee and Tamsin Outhwaite and then following a successful run transferred in 2015 to the West End of London , this time starring Jenna Russell, Samantha Spiro and Tamsin Outhwaite reprising her role.

All three roles are demanding for the actors playing them.

Characters

Rose – Art-history student. Well spoken, naïve and not as intellectual as Viv. Is as innocent about sex as she is promiscuous.

Viv – Sociology student. Enigmatic, intriguing and tricky to read. Determined to succeed and very focused on her goals in life. Wears 1940s cloths at college.

Di – Sporty, business-studies student. No-nonsense, quick-thinking optimism. Gay (Must be a real characterization, not a bus driver in overalls).
